I'm going to add another VU+ box.
I can't find anywhere the actual consumption figures amps or watts of the basic zero and zero 4k version.
As its going to run on a 12v BATTERY I want to get the lowest power user.
Can anyone help please.
Thanks in anticipation
Nick (BTW I was hdp160 I'm now hdp1602 its a long story)
So an operating VU+ Zero 4k 10w (that's 1.2amps)
Anyone got the working watts or amps for the simpler VU+ Zero version please.
I'm guessing its going to be lower unless the younger 4k version has "greener" chips.
I don't mean to be rude but on page 15 of the operating manual I read:
power consumption
max / operational / stand by
24/15 / 05w
I only gave the maximum value
I don't seem to be wrong ... yes ...
Then I added, having recently that box, the data detected on the power supply that was provided to me with the box itself.
Thats completely OK.
There will be consumption figures for both boxes.
Standby figures I'm no really interested in. (I'll turn off when not in use).
Operation consumption is also dependent on whether the box is powering the LNB or not.
I have the option to power the LNB directly from the rotator on or off and I can measure that myself.
So fundamentally I'm trying to decide which of the two boxes uses the least "in operation" power (however its expressed)
So please everyone don't hang to much on the actual figure its the most battery friendly box I'll buy.
zero 4k
So let's tear up the user manual ....
with the box comes only the easy set up guide but on the site
vuplus.com the aforementioned manual can be downloaded and the data shown are the ones I posted
24 - 15 - 05W
It looks like there isn't a published user guide (other than the quick setup one) for the Zero.
So the 12v power consumption figures sadly don't appear anywhere.... really strange?
Opting for a very, very, very limited and obsolete Zero instead of a Zero4k (not for its 4K capabilities, of course, not really needed at the moment, but for its totally different architecture, CPU and other specifics) only for a bunch of watts, seems to me simply absurd
Sorry gerolamo that's for the 4k version, it's widely available and its the one we have been quoting further up the thread.
The consumption figures for the earlier VU+ Zero ... the non 4K are the ones I'm looking for now.
My problem is now solved. (Well done blu8)
I speak German I'm on a few German forums as well but had no luck there.
Its very much as I expected. And you are correct Alexwilmac in this case the few watts saved will not be vastly significant.
If the difference had been 4+ watts that might have skewed by choice.
This set top box will be run solely on batteries so I had to be sure.
Thanks everyone for taking an interest.
