Adding a harddrive to a vu+solo2se

Ive got a vu+solo2se and i am wanting to record so
questions
1 do i have to add a harddrive to do so
2 as i have a sky+hd box can i take the harddrive 500 out of that and use it for vu box
3 which is the easiest and best way to add harddrive internal or external
4 if i can use the sky harddrive for external use what case do i use as in one that powers itself or one so the box will power the harddrive
any info would be great
