ATSC Tuner

I live in the U.S. and my Vu+ Duo2 with two dual tuners will be arriving next week. Would someone please recommend my options at the current time for a usb atsc tuner? I would like to purchase one that will hopefully work with the driver development in progress. Name brand and model number, please.

Thank you.

Welcome :)
Actually ATSC support it's very in alpha stage ... about device support you should talk a little with @el bandido about his device or take a look into shops near you and report here device names/model names avaiable in your zone

Thank you for your welcome and fast reply.

I have chatted with El Bandido and he is currently using a HAUPPAUGE WINTV-HVR 850. Just for curiosity sake, is there any other chipset that your drivers will handle or is it limited to the one Hauppauge offers?

It's a good question :)

Theorically some ATSC USB devices are supported (take a look @ http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/ATSC_USB_Devices )

I've also bought in the past a WinTV-HVR 950 (new revision respect the one used by @el bandido ) and is correctly detected

I want to be totally clear: ATSC support it's not working for now .... but some more step are done thanks to @el bandido and Vu+ :)

eastof111 Is a tester and understands that ATSC is not working at this time. It would be nice to try a model that is still being produced. Maybe he should look at the WinTV-HVR 950 since it is still in production?

I would wait until a TV picture is available on the Duo2 in ATSC before spending money on a device that is not yet fully supported...Unless you want the ATSC usb device to use on your computer or in another location. I think ATSC is close to making a picture, but who really knows what other problems may exist or how long it may take? This is the nature of testing and is to be expected.

Uhm... a new beta tester ... it's so nice :)
I'm working on next step of ATSC support that is the correct detection of ATSC services .... but for now my tests are very bad and my test box goes in GSOD every time .... :(
