Request Backup and restore question

Vu+ Newbie
Hi All,

Firstly I would like to say what a great forum and what a great image BH is in my opinion.

I know this question as been asked before but I would just like to be 100% before I do any flashing.

I currently have a Vu+ Duo original. (Excellent Box!)

I bought it pre-setup and this was done very well by the seller.

It has image 1.7.3 on it and it was thinking of updating to the latest one.

I have made a Full Back and a personal Backup.

1. So I should be able to flash to latest image and then restore personal settings and everything should be the same?

2. If I run into any issues can I flash back from USB from the full backup and everything should be the same as state that I did the full backup? Channel listing, Sats, Settings, etc.

Thank you all for your help and only reason I am asking is that the current image is working very well at the moment and dont want to mess it up.

Thanks for your time.

Hi all again...

I can't select the USB flash drives when I go to backup

Both full and personal will backup to the HDD but can't select USB drives.

Do I need to do something first with the flash drives?

BH 1.7.3

Thank you!

Hi Mito...

I'm in the mount points screen now and have attached what is coming up if it helps?

Thank you as I want to get everything backed up before I start updating the image.

Cheers,
Jumbi..

Now you have to push the red button and set your devices by selecting them and pressing the remote control arrows (lift and right):
Hard Disck: /media/hdd
USB stick 1: /media/usb
USB stick 2: /media/personal (or another voice available)

Finally, you have to press again the red button to save the settings and to reboot the box.

Perfect!!

I have saved my personal backup to the HDD and the full backup to one of my USB Drives.

I assume that if I pop in the USB drive to the front of the VU Duo and restarted it would then reload my current baseline image?

Mito - Thank you very much for your help it is much appreciated.

You have only to remember that when you connect a usb stick for upload the image, the stick has to be FAT 32 formatted and has to contain only the folder named "vuplus" with his content.
