Vu+ User
Many of us are remembering the era of analog and semi digital (D2MAC) satellite receivers with embedded firmwares that was acted as really passive devices capable of just receiving and decoding signals by predefined tasks and the users' base capable for understanding this technology and changing it was very small. Then arrived digital ecosystem making not only audio and video but also TV to be manipulated by software that was in first stage proprietary with not so much possibility for modification according to user needs.
The third wave come across with the open source based (in fact linux based) STBs that introduced new concept and ideology in consumer electronics - the user is now supplied with the possibility to share, modify, and develop STB software according to current needs and interest. This was milestone in user base too, since many of them were familiar with computer only through Microsoft Windows eco system that is not so clean and visible at all. Our Vu Plus devices are in line with this idea of openness bringing us many improvements in not only software stability but also in new services that most of them were not in a heads of Vu Plus development team.
And now, with the new Black Hole 2.0.7.x firmwares the saga continues and we will see that Vu+ devices begin new smart media era - the Vu plus devices are now capable of really Smart TV functionality, media center possibility as well as communication capability as many personal computer does.
That is why just again many congratulations to development team, coders and forum administrators making this Vu Plus 4th Wave eco system a new open source paradigm for home media system that most of other producers failed with their products. Vu Plus with this new firmware becomes the criterion for any other home media systems, STBs, Smart TV, etc. We have now in our Vu Plus devices the HbbTV, no limitation in memory for many add-ons/plugins by personal interest due to Black Hole Universe, Air Mouse support, much other stuff and finally we got DVB-T2 support. Since many of today's ordinary TV sets have only DVB-T tuners, the DVB-T2 possibility with USB stick on Vu Plus devices is great improvement.
The new 2.0.7.1 comes as a pregift for Christmas arriving to us pretty fast and many thanks to Matrix10, capa, Army, angelofsky1980, Mito, Tamaki, and all of you in BH Team on their willingness to share their knowledge and enthusiasm helping many newbies in STBs and novices in linux world to boldly go into new knowledge through entertainment, shared and open communication.
