Hi
I'm currently running BlackHole 2.1.5, Build 2015-02-26-master, DVB drivers 20150109, Kernal version 3.9.6 on my VU+ Duo (not the latest Duo2).
Can I install Black Hole 3.0.4.C? If so, what do I need to bear in mind? Is there a tutorial which would help me as it's been a while since I last updated.
Any tips or suggestions would be most welcome.
TIA
Harry

If the image has been released it means it's possible to install it ;)
But the installing will make you start from scratch either about plugins installed or everything else.
What you can save are the settings (the channels): you can do it by a software like iDreamX for Mac or DreamboxEdit for windows or similar.

Thanks for your help... sorry to have asked something so basic.

I'll have a crack at installing it.

Don't worry, nunigaia! "Have a crack at" means make an attempt to do something, as one fears not to manage it.
Or, also, he meant: it's my turn to install it.
I'm curious: what of the two did you mean, HarryRoberts?

I simply meant I will 'have a go' or 'attempt' or 'try' to install it.
Given my limited understanding and ability, it will be an attempt without guarantee of success.

Thanks for the new version.

Hi, i hope anyone can help me.
I have until now used a Sweex Wireless 54G Adapter on my vu+duo. Its been ok, but i am now thinking of streaming from the box to a tv and i assume this is a bottleneck.

So today i bought a TP-Link AC450 Wireless Nano UDB Adapter. I plugged it in and hoped for the best. Unfortunately, the box did not like it and could not detect it. It came with some error message that no module something could not be found.
So, do i need to install a new driver? Is the driver available in the BH image somewhere, so that i just need to activate it or does it not exist and or can someone help me out?

Never, never, never buy a device without searching in advance if it's supported by your image! VU+ is managed by a sort of Linux O.S. and Linux is already not so universally compatible with every device in the world! You are not trying to use a device with Windows or OsX, where you have almost always the drivers needed.

Alex, the TP-Link is supposedly one of the most flexible and reliable adapters with similar speed on the market today. It can go on Mac, PC and Linux. Its probably one of the most popular as well (at least in Norway).
Furthermore i checked which chipset it needs and its something called WI1 chip1:MediaTek MT7610U.
A quick google search (MT7610U + vuduo + Black Hole) and i saw that this driver was included back in BH2.0.7. Hence, i went ahead and bought the device.
I now see that the probable Linux driver is called mt7610u_sta. So maybe there is the problem?? That it is not the same as MT7610U ?

Do you have any suggestion for which wifi adapter i should go for? As mentioned it needs speed which will not bottleneck streaming from the Vu box. Is there a list of devices somewhere?
The purchase did not ruin me, so if there is no way anyone got this driver ill go ahead and buy a new one.

So, what do we have here... Only one guy who basically tells me im an idiot who buys the most popular linux compatible wireless adapter?

Is there any in the BH team who can state whether its possible to create a lpk file for the driver?

I didn't tell you anything like you say: I'm not this kind of person. It was only a general recommendation. In my experience of computer and device reseller, TP-link was always one of the worst brands, particularly when it comes to non-windows O.S. Sometimes even with windows, if I needed just the recent versions! But this is only my limited experience. And, anyway, VU+ images are not pure Linux: only linux-based O.S.
So it's not automatic that a device compatible to linux (which linux, also?) is compatible to every image for VU+.

Ok, so which modern high speed USB wireless adapter is actually compatible with BH 3.04 ? The list i have seen on this board i 3-4 years old and the adapters is likely not available in shop any longer.
