To update to latest version do i select "update BH image"or do i select "Firmware update"BH version:
menu>information>about
The latest BH version available on this site is always the best to use!
currently running BH 2.0.8Which BH version is currently running in your box?
what's the difference between a full and personal backup and do you backup to the hard drive or usb stick.Rather than flash the update can i just click on the "update BH image" button in my box menu. Can i also do the same with the firmware iconI'd suggest you to first do a Personal Backup (and a Full Backup of your current image for an extra security), then flash the latest available BH image, and finally restore the Personal Backup.
Thanks very much, will do asap.Full backup, as its name says, it's a full image backup and can only be restored flashing it as doing with a new image, so it can't be used for upgrading an image but only to completely revert to a previous situation.
BTW I don't suggest to use the update functions, see:

I prefer backupping to an external USB storage.
Backed up my files using goldwafers control centre 2013 version 0.7.Had an error saying VuCC.ini file missing in C:/ Would it be ok to update to new BH image with this error in the backup or will i need to start againBackup will not help as you will have a change of kernel, use an FTP client to backup your personal files and start from scratch.

If i load the new BH version and there's a problem could i still restore these saved settings even though it has this error ?It's a VUCC problem. Image into box is not responsable for that.
Doubtful, why not do a backup to a spare USB memory stick, if you have one.[/Flashed my box with new BH image 2.1.4 but all my tuner settings and lat/long info changed.Had to reload my original BH 2.0.8 to get fta channels back. When i installed 2.1.4 my box said "save settings or start stb",i chose the latter. Is this why things changed. The new BH looks much better than my current version so i would like to re-install it but how do i keepall my current settings.
I thought so,i chose "start up stb" instead of"restore settings".With my motorized dish do i then have to re-configure it again or will these values stop the same as in the previous BH versionYou use the back up option, in the menu.
Most owners ahve a built in hard drive, so store the backup there, then on loading a new version, of Black Hole, it will ask if you want to restore your settings, to which you say yes. If you haven't got an internal hard Drive then you can format, and use, a USB stick.
Most of this depends on your satellite setup, if only using a fixed dish, for one satellite, it's easy to just start again, but if using a motorized, or multi LNB setup, then it takes time to set everything up again.
I had version 2.0.8 loaded when i bought the box from Goldwafers which i did a full back up of before loading version 2.1.4.Now back on original version with everything running ok.I tried to do a personal backup as well but it said no personal items found. What version of Black Hole did you have running berfore?
Have you done a personal backup or full backup?
You can go into the menu and restore the backup, without having to re-load Black Hole.
