box firmwares?

hi peeps
is there much difference in firmwares from box to box?
i have a vu+duo and have it running great for on 2.0.2.
thinking of getting a solo, but could i use a full backup from duo on the solo?
would much rather do it that way rather than start from scratch. not that starting from scratch would be a problem lol
