how to: camera wireless sync
hello, i recently bought a sandisk "eye-fi" card for my camera
the bundled software worked well out of a box but the use of a cloud for transfer the camera photo to the pc looked very bad to me, and use more then a pc was really impossibile without many useless steps
so:
little research on the web and now is enough to turn on the camera @home , wait few time for have the photos on the vu+ without press any key , just turning on the camera!
the transfered images are tagged as transferred on the sd so they are transfered just one time
and works very well
what's needed:
starting from this package h**p://code.google.com/p/eyefiserver/
after a little repacking i obtained the attached file
install it on the vu+ as usual
configure with the pc as usual the sd for your wireless network with the win/osx bundled software
and disable the auto connection mode from the pc software (is a bad idea have more then 1 eyefiserver...)
now you need to add the "pairing code" in the /etc/eyefolder.conf: open it and read howto, is really simple
as well the /etc/eyefolder.conf contained in the attachment have the destination path , by default is /hdd/eyefiserver/year/date , obv you can change it if you like
for debug and before start it as startup service you can invoke with a telent session this command:
and read what's happen
if all goes fine
for enable the autostart of the service green-blue then eyefiserver_enable then reboot
for disable eyefiserver_disable then reboot
how to use it: take some shots where you want and @home turn on the camera
wait some time, and after you have all the photos cloned on the box so you can view they by the remote on tv, or store in a pc they without any cable
you can use your eye-fi card with a simple ftp protocol using the vu+ as eyefiserver
ps: my camera report with an icon if the photo showed in the camera display is already trasmitted to the server or not
maybe this info can be usefull for someone
regards
thx to angelofsky for some tips
