Can not connect to VU+SoloSE

NsC0001

Vu+ Newbie
Hi
I have a recurring problem with my SoloSE. I have been using BH images for the last year and I'm currently using 2.17.
After a image update all is good. I can connect to the box and get everything setup including system password. I can then use ftp and other tools.
After a few months I am no longer able to connect? Even though the password has not changed. The only way I have been able to fix this is to re-install a new image.
Anyone know of this issue?

Did you check if your receivers IP Address had changed? This can happen if you haven't set up a fixed IP Address.
All you need to do is go into the Menu, Setup, System , Netowrk, select your connection, Wireless, or wired, and view the Adapter Settings.
Alternatively you can use the DCC, Dremabox Control Centre, to search for you.

Hi. I have a fixed IP and this has not changed. DCC gives error 10057 Socket not connected.

When you use the Dreambox Control Centre E2 option, to search for your IP Addresses, by clicking on Suchen, and Suche, does it bring up the VU+ IP Address?

Yes it finds the correct IP. When I use reconnect it shows connected for 2 seconds then says logon failed

Is the receiver in standby mode, so that it's not booting up?
Can you connect using dreamboxedit, to see if it can download your channel list, or using the VU+ Control Centre?

Box works fine, just no connection. dreamboxedit also fails connection.

Can you please confirm your VU+ model, is it the VU+ Solo SE, or VU+ Solo SE v2, and are you certain it's a genuine VU+?

I was hoping to find a VU+ Solo SE bootloader update, on the VU+ home site, just to see if the bootloader is the problem, and your USB stick is working, but unfotunately I can't find one.
Have you got any other USB sticks, that you can format to FAT 32, to try, the cheaper, smaller, ones, usually work best?
I think you're going to have to start from scratch, as we have no idea what the aborted update did, and you don't seem to be able to connect, to try and sort it out.
Did you try connecting using FileZilla, to see if the folders structure is still there?

Please delete any other vuplus folders, on your PC desktop, and download the latest black hole 2.1.7
http://www.vuplus-community.net/board/threads/black-hole-vu-solose-2-1-7.23848/

Unrar, or unzip, and place the vuplus folder on your desktop.
Load this onto a freshly formatted USB stick.
Switch off your VU+ Solo SE, at the rear, insert the USB stick and turn on your Solo SE, and see if it starts loading.
If not try another formatted USB stick.
Please post back, with any results.

I was hoping there was another way. I have had this issue three times now and the only solution seems to be a reflash.
Will keep you posted.

Are you updating the image online?
Could it be a plugin, or Addon, that is updating, causing this problem?
I have read of problems with various EPG plugins, that can cause problems, but it could be anything, and unfortunately, once the problem occurs, you can't get in to check which update might be causing the problem.
You can try various telnet commands, to stop some things running, and see if you can then connect to the receiver, but as nothing else is connecting, even the Control Centres, it's a guess if even telnet is working, but might be worth a try.
You should also backup your channel list, using dreamboxedit, and try a full backup, using the various software options, to make it easier, to set it up again, if this problem occurs again, in a few months.

Just in case, if this happens again, goto your dcc.ini file (on PC)
and check whether the values of the following four fields are correct:-

Password=etc etc
DreamIP=192.168.x.a
RouterIP=192.168.x.b
LocalIP=192.168.x.c

And also ensure that you have not inadvertently opened Ports 21, 23 or 80 on your modem/router
which may allow intruders into your Receiver.

Have reflashed and I'm currently busy setting the box back up. Connection is up and running. Will keep a check on the connection over the next period.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
