Can't enable FTP & Telnet etc.

BL!

Vu+ Newbie
Hi, forum!

My SoloSE have suddenly developed a problem, I can't reach it through FTP (not on port 22 either) as well as through Telnet. It's not possible to enable them from the TV GUI - services will not start. I cannot stream either (possibly/probably related in some way). Apart from that the box seems to be working fine, I can reach it through the web interface and TV GUI and operation (including recording to NAS) appears normal and it's also pingable.

This is the firmware details from the Box Info:
System OE: 3.0
Distro: BlackHole
Firmware version: 3.0.1.0
Driver date: N/A
Kernel version: 3.13.5
Gui version: 2016-01-19-master

TIA!

Thank you for the suggestion but I already wrote that I had tried enabling FTP/Telnet via the TV GUI (to no avail).

You look to your firewoll on computer or router maybe he block conection or trafick to your box, etc.

You see any info when you try coneckt ?

Try flashing only the kernel files. So, in the usual folders' structure, i.e.
vuplus/your_box_model
put ONLY:
kernel_auto.bin
reboot.update

@BL! Good will be used last version image Bh too
Im think about Bh 3.0.3Q you have very old version i think he have more 1.5 year.
Was alot update from this time

OK, I assume that I need to flash 3.0.1 again?

The files located in the "solo" folder are:
boot_cfe_auto.jffs2
kernel_cfe_auto.bin
root_cfe_auto.jffs2

So then you mean that I don't flash the last of the 3 files; "root_cfe_auto.jffs2"? Just put the 2 first files in the folder and flash?

Yes, if your image is installed in flash (as Nunigaya remembered, because many use images installed in OpenMultiboot) the same image with only the kernel. I took, as a reference, my VU+'s BH, but yours contains some different files. So, I suppose your kernel is just the second one,
kernel_cfe_auto.bin

Obviously, if you'd like to take the opportunity to upgrade to the last version, this is not needed. Remember that an upgrade means to loose every settings and plugins installed so far because you start from scratch. So you can, at least, save your settings.

Yes, that's is what I will try to do - save my settings etc. and then go to the latest version after that.

I tried with the 2 files and booted but it seems like it skips (no flashing) and just boots up as normal.

I also tried the inbuilt flashing and it updated to 3.0.1 F (I think it was) but that didn't help in activating the services.

I wonder if there is any good file manager that I can use to copy my files to a network share or to a USB stick? Any suggestions on that one?

Give a try to WinScp.

Code:
https://winscp.net/eng/download.php

After installing WinScp ... install Putty ... to have acess to terminal command line.

Code:

Have upgraded to 3.0.3H (latest USB image I could find) and then online up to 3.0.3Q now. Have to do all the setup of satellites etc. but at least I have FTP working now! :-)

Thanks for all your suggestions/ideas, guys - much appreciated!
