can't get hdd to work

Vu+ Newbie
hi guys,

Really hope you guys can help me here I am tried everything possible.

I bought a Vu+ duo sat box a few weeks ago without a hdd.

I ordered a hdd got it today the hdd is; 1 TB Western Digital Cavier WD10EARX.

Now my understanding would be that I would be able to just put the hdd into my vu+ box and viola its would work, but unfortunately that hasnt proved to be the case.

Have tried several images Vu+ own, Pli, vix and still cant seem to get it working. In each of these images the the is NO HDD MOUNT option its like the hdd doesnt want to be there. I find it strange how the hdd menu can go missing tho lol.

Also tried telnet still didnt work.

It picks my USB memory stick up no problems what so ever and Hdd spins when box is loading up so I know its getting power from box.

I am back on the vu+ original image

Any help???

If you have BH on your box try this : press blue button twice, go to Devices manager and you should see the HDD listed there.
If it is there, first format it with yelow button after that mount it with red button as media/hdd.

Install Black Hole 1.7.2 and do initialization and mount via instructions which You have from colleague up.
 
Did you try to simply connect your new disk to the PC ?

May be it is simply not working . Not long ago I baught a brand new disk which was not working

Good!
Then try anothor HDD , WD usually sucks,,,,Samsung or Sea-gate are OK!

The Issue is coming from the HDD as I read from your 1st post,,,,,:lamo:!

Can you put the HDD in a p.c. and see if it works there ?
If you say the hdd is spinning when you start the box maybe it's a problem with only the data cable, or the data port of the hdd or the receiver.
I also have a WD 1TB in my Vu and it is ok.
 
I'll see if it will fit into my pc - If I remember right the connections are bigger but then a again been a few years since i got my head inside it lol

I'll check tomorrow night when I get time and report back with findings
 
right guys - got a hold of a 2.5 sata hitachi drive plugged it in and its showed up, this is a hdd that has vista on it took it out of my uncle laptop so need to put it back lol.

Whats the verdict? send my hdd bk or try and find pc that fit my hdd and format it??

It does sound like the drive might be faulty but if it were me, I think I would try and find a PC to put it in to and format it - just to be sure.
