Note: You can´t use a splitter to join the cables from LNB1 and LNB2 ( Inverto and Emmesse ), and your antenna and LNB´s must be correctly aligned!

Hi. I have been checking the forum for a problem with my tuner configuration when I came across this discussion. You say nunigaia that "With BlackHole, you just need to configure A ... and E ... for each input". I thought A & B were the physical tuners which need to be configured first? Unless I misunderstand you, you're suggesting to set (for example) A to Astra and E for Hotbird?

My problem is the following. I have two Inverto unicable LNBs/Dishes for Astra and Hotbird. I have attempted to daisy-chain the tuners in the following way:

A < C < D < E

13E
B < F < G < H

Everything works fine for Astra and I can record a channel and watch any other with no problem, but with Hotbird the configuration settings won't let me fully do that chaining above and when I record one HD channel, the other HD channels are not available. Most of the SD channels are available (tho not all).

The Hotbird configuration is as follows:
B set as required, but then for F only E & H tuners were available (not B). Given that E is Astra, I chose H (SCR2)
For tuner G, B was available and I connected to this (SCR3).
For H, F,G, & E available and again as E is Astra I chose G (SCR4).

Anyone any idea what I might be doing wrong?
 
1) Although this thread is about 2 SCR's LNBs, please specify if this is also your case.
2) If you are trying to manage two SCR LNBs by a common DiseqC switch, you won't never succeed. You can manage only one SCR and many Universal ones to a DiseqC switch.
That's why it doesn't work.
 
Hi Alexwilmac. If I understand your question correctly, yes I have two Inverto/Unicable/SCR LNBs - one each for Astra and Hotbird. I am not using a DiseqC switch, physically or in settings.
 
Well, reading more carefully (I'm in the middle of a hectic period!), first of all I didn't focused the HD problem.
If your channels are all FTA, it doesn't matter if they are HD or SD, provided that you configured the SCR channels correctly.
But if you are descrambling by a C.I. module (smartcam) you won't never be able to descramble two channels by the same C.I. module, because this is a limit of the smartcams for private use.

That said, it's strange you cannot connect F,G, H to B.
The configuration should be:

In case, grab your tuners' configuration (by IP_OF_YOUR_BOX/grab) and post here. I suspect you mixed some SCR channels.
 
I don't have a Unicable LNB
but I think you just need to program
Tuner A for one satellite
and Tuner B for another satellite
Everything else is automatically programmed if the LNB is unicable LNB in the list with standard SCR frequenties programming.
If not then everything must be programmed manually

Unicable:
The respective settings must be adapted to the SCR system. LNB 1 and LNB 2 are to be set to the aligned satellite system. In this example it is 13 ° East (Eutelsat) and 19.2 ° East (Astra). Under LOF, Unicable must be selected; it must also be ensured that the correct settings are made under Unicable Configuration and Manufacturer. If these preprogrammed settings do not match the installed components, then Unicable User defined must be selected; Unicable [EN50494] must be selected under the menu item Diction that then appears. The remaining settings, such as channel and frequency, however, have to be made manually. The frequencies may only be assigned once for each connected tuner; if this is not observed, interference will occur.

No, it is not needed to restart: I've got more than one Unicable/SCR and I assure you it's not needed. As soon as you do the right thing, everything works.

Obviously, you need also to choose the correct Productor of your LNB and, also, in case, the correct model.
Otherwise, as Matrix said, you need to enter the SCR bands (channels) manually, but Inverto has many models already provided by the image. What's your Inverto?
 
Thanks to all for the responses. So, some clarifications:

1) The receiver is a Vuplus Ultimo 4K.
2) In relation to Tuners B to H, SCR5 to 8 are not available. It's a replica of the Astra setup - and it is a separate LNB so this makes sense to me - so it's SCR1 to 4 for these tuners for Hotbird.
3) There is a slight discrepancy in the physical model number of the LNB - IDLU-QUDL42-UNR2L-1PP - versus IDLU-QUDL42-UNI2L-1PP in the software settings. That is a difference of one letter 'R/I' in the third section. Perhaps this has a bearing?
4) No I haven't tried the reverse - Hotbird in Tuner A - yet.
5) I have just read elsewhere that the CAM/Smartcard for Tivusat on Hotbird is only able to decrypt one channel at a time, so if I'm recording one encrypted channel I won't be able to watch another encrypted channel. This concurs with my experience. All the RAI HD channels and the extra channels on the Tivusat service such as RAI4 SD (i.e. not just the HD version) are encrypted so that if, for example, I record RAIUNO HD, RAI4 SD is not available, but RAIUNO or RAIDUE SD are. Don't know if this is the issue, but as I say it mirrors my experience.
6) I did try configuring only Tuners A & B for Astra and Hotbird and left the other Tuners C to H unconfigured (configured automatically). This makes sense to me in that the receiver should be able to draw on any free tuner to give you whichever channel you require if A or B are busy, but I obtained the same results of not being able to watch and record on Hotbird.

I prefer not quoting because sometimes is less comfortable. But I'll use your items numbers ;)

1) In the Ultimo 4K I know that there might be either a FBC tuner 8named A) and a Normal one (named B). So, if this is your situation, this might explain your problems (and would make very important to try and configure tuner A for 13E instead of 19,2E).
In my Solo4K I have 2 tuners but both are FBC.

2) Yes: you are absolutely right: my mistake. Obviously, both your LNBs have 4 user bands (I've got also this model) so you have to use in both SCR1 to SCR4. Sorry for the stupid mistake.

3) The discrepancy is not relevant: all Inverto (and not only Unicable/SCR LNBs use the same user bands for the first 4 SCR channels.
Even my new 32 channels Inverto, use the same frequencies for the first 4 channels
1=1210
2=1420
3=1680
4=2040

So, don't worry about the slight name difference.

4) As I said above, just to be sure both your tuners are FBC, try that.

5) Yes: I confirm you won't never be able to decrypt two Tivusat channels (unless FTA, but none of the HD are and even some of the SD, as you said), regardless of their transponders. Is a limit of every smartcams C.I. But.... ;)

6) NO: here you are wrong. If you leave the tuners as "FBC automatic"-Inactive, they can't do anything. Actually, the word "Automatic" is a little bit misleading. They will simply be Unconfigured, as they weren't existing.

And now another (maybe stupid) doubt: are you sure you connected the right Output to your second SCR LNB: it has got both outputs, one SCR and two Universal.
I say so because I've got 2 Inverto SCRs and they have the same model but... one has got the SCR OUT in the centre of the 3; the other one has got the SCR on the side (the one furthest from the dish), despite the same model name (as they were two different series).
So you have to check not only what type of Tuner is your B but also this fact on the LNB.
 
My apologies for taking so long to report back. Basically I managed to get it sorted using a different image (openvix) and the help of someone who sent me some files for the ******* configuration of my legal smartcard - that is, deploying it without using the hard CAM. The daisy-chaining of A (for Astra) to C, to D, to E - and B (for Hotbird) to F, to G, to H - all worked without issue, and finally I was also able to record one channel while watching another on each satellite service (and my terrestrial tuners also. So, am very happy with my setup now. Have spent a long time since I bought the VuPlus Ultimo 4K in 2018 trying to get it right. Installing the unicable LNBs (and new dishes to improve reception) were the last steps towards my ideal setup. Well, actually, not quite. I noticed my hard drive was getting noisier and quite hot, so I replaced that with a 1TB SSD (they're finally sort of reasonably priced). I hope that satisfies me for a good while and I'm not looking for more excuses to spend money I probably don't have :-)

Apart from the fact you didn't read our forum rules... ;) Openvix can't solve any issue OBH has, because they are basically cousin images.
Only, OpenViX is more ugly.
You solved only and just because you did the right thing.
Actually, I was curious to know if my long post, particularly #33, would lead you to the right configuration.
But you, not only haven't answered, but installed a different image with exactly the same system about tuners' configuration...
