Cross EPG over 10 minutes downloading time

I have only one provider. I've checked the time and it takes 10min 50sec to load the EPG. Why does it take so long time? Why it's impossible to use menu either change channels during downloading EPG?
 
You are lucky because for me it's about 40 minutes with all my providers. Actually, it's not the downloading the longest part, it's the postprocessing.
In OBH there's a plugin called epgimport which acts in background (if you like) but in BH, although installed, it caused me some crashes. So I accepted to get crossepg runnning during the night...
