CrossEPG not saving epg.dat to media/usb

Some issue with CrossEPG. If I select usb as download location, it creates the media/usb/crossepg folder with all the db files and ext.dat but does not create the epg.dat in media/usb, instead it is created in media/hdd, therefore it cannot be loaded properly.
I know the easiest solution is to select hdd as the location. I still would like to know if someone has a workaround or explanation.
I have logged a bug with the CrossEPG team.
