Device Manager and Permanent Timeshift not working

When I click on device manager the screen quickly flashes then goes back to the menu. I then have to press exit to get out. It's as if device manager is there but not showing on screen, if you get what I mean. Any ideas how to fix it so I can get into device manager?

I wanted to go into device manager to check hard drive was mounted because every time I install permanent timeshift, it crashes the box, reboots and keeps crashing/rebooting in a loop. So I've deleted it via FTP.

I'm just about to take my hard drive out nd see if device manager works then as it's an old 2.5". Maybe thats causing the problems?
