Well I successfully upgrading my duo2 from BH 2.1.0 to BH 2.1.5 via a clean install but what I want to know is I backed up all well,, I thought it was all, I backed up via Dreambox Edit and Dreamset all the Transponders, channels Favourite, freq you name it but either I've made a mistake in both programs or those two programs don't back up the Important stuff being whats in the RECEPTION SETTINGS. Yes the reception setting and thank god I took photo's of all my sats reception settings (Satellite name and position, LNB Priority,LNB settings, DISEqC Mode, Command order, Uncommitted DISEqC Command, LNB Number, and all those other settings including the setting to work with my Sat positioner.)
I would have had a huge head ache If I did not take photo's of each Sat's Reception settings (around 23 of them).
Now Guys Does Dreambox edit and Dreamset do this the backing up of the Reception Setting and if not what program does or what am I missing
thanks

Generally speaking, to save the configuration settings you must use the BH Personal Backup menu.
If there are incompatibilities regarding the restore of the Personal Backup after an image upgrade (as in the case of 2.1.5), you'll find a warning in the new image announcement and some hints how to restore as many configurations as possible after the upgrade procedure.

So there is no program that can be used on a computer that allows you to save the Reception settings?. I did do a bit of reading before upgrading to 2.1.5 and did read that members did back up there personal settings only to have big problems after installing 2.1.5.
Anyhow I took photo's of all my sats Reception settings before upgrading like I said before, Put the Photo's in my laptop and sat the laptop next to a monitor and above the duo2 and manually changed each Sat one by one. If I remember correctly I have SATS from 1 to 13 LNB for my motorised dish on DISEqc 1.2 and from LNB 20 to 27 fixed dishes on DISEqC 1.1. Now that plenty of manual programming which took me about an hour but the lucky thing was I did not have to touch anything on my VBox.
Great Image! all we need now is to find out why two of our local terrestrial tv stations that have HBB TV the HBB Tv on the duo2 locks up but releases when pressing Exit on the duo2. The other HBB TV stations work ok.

The only way I know to transfer antenna settings for 27 or more satellites is to copy and paste these antenna settings into the settings file found in etc/enigma2. I have a bunch of antenna settings myself, and I transfer all channels with antenna settings manully using FileZilla. Moving or swapping two saved files, and altering a third wll have my antenna settings and channels working within a few minutes of time.

Thank you for your reply
I use CORE FTP for all my FTP needs so all you have to do is copy your original two files full of sats found in etc/enigma2 and after you replace the image where you cannot use personal backup or full backup you over write the new images 2 same Settings files and that's it. Now about altering the third file, can you please give me more info on this thanks.

You need to cut and paste your nims from the old setting file in etc/enigma2 into the new settings file, then transfer the altered settings file into the new image in etc/enigma2. Turn the receiver OFF by unplugging it or by using the rocker switch on the back once the altered file has been transferred. Rebooting or restarting enigma2 will probably result in the settings file transfer failing.

The lamedb file in etc/enigma2 contains the channel information, and the satellites.xml file in etc/tuxbox contains the satellite information. Transferring these two files, and altering/installing the settings file will give you channels and antenna settings in a new image.

An altered settings file is attached.

Thanks my friend. I will use this next time we have a new image that you cannot do a Personal or full Backup

full Backup
A Full Backup will be always available in every image, but its scope is to allow you to restore the receiver exactly at the same situation it was at that moment you made it, before any upgrade or modification.
So the Full backup is only useful for safety purposes and not usable for restoring anything after an upgrade.

Thank you Eragon for your knowledge. Yes there is confusion between Full and personal back up. I have written this down in my personal Duo2 notes so I don't forget 6 months in the Future.

Hi I always use VU+ Control Centre to do backup of all my settings. It saves the settings to your PC`s Hard Drive it has never let me down. It saves all your settings/freq` of all Ch`s etc. Im used to doing/using this than the BH backups

Dreambox Edit and Dreamset save Freq and channels BUT!! does VU+ Control Centre save the Reception settings (Don't be confused) "eg Satellite name, LNB's. DISEqC you are using "eg" 1.1 or 1.2, What DISEqC number regarding what Sat you are on, VBox settings and other settings that dreambox Edit and Dreamset DON"T SAVE.

Well if I start from a brand new reflash and dont copy ANY settings over (when it asks in BH when installing) there is nothing there so when I copy all my settings back over from VU+ Control Centre its all back. It seems to work for me OK. I`ve lost count how many times flashed my DUO but its from every version 2+ years ago
