Hi,
I am looking for a plugin to convert DTS to AC3 in realtime. Due to the fact that my AVR is not able to decode DTS but AC3 (DD5.1) I am not able to get sound out of movies with DTS sound only.
DTS downmix works fine but the output is stereo only.

Is there any plugin available that (similar to DTS/AC3 downmix option) converts DTS to AC3 ?

Thanks,
MacK

Enable Dolby Downmix in Audio Setup.

Regarding Dolby/DTS downmix setting, I'd like to point out that in my opinion Vuplus should eventually find a way to implement and provide an Auto downmix functionality as do all the DVD/Bluray players and HD tuners that I know and have used.

In those devices the automatic audio stream selection is based on the HDMI connection protocol itself, that allows the "sender" device and the "receiver" device to negotiate the best audio digital stream supported by both of them.

In the case of a TV set, via HDMI it's generally only capable to accept a stereo PCM digital stream, while all the home theater systems are obviously capable of Dolby/DTS/PCM multichannel digital audio stream decoding.

About me, I alternate between the use of a TV set and a home theater system (by means of a HDMI switch), and until now (before Duo2) I never had to manually change the audio settings of my DVD/bluray players or HDTV receivers.

Just to make some example of HD sat tuners, using italian SkyBoxHD, MySkyHD or XDome (italian official alternative Sky-NDS receiver) I never had to change any audio setting (nor probably they even have any), but I was always able to automatically get the best audio stream both when switched to TV and to my home theater amplifier.

Well, I think that Vuplus should try to implement this HDMI automatic best audio negotiation because this functionality is already available even in the cheapest HDTV tuners and DVD/Bluray players, and it should not be difficult to implement, possibly by means of a dedicated plugin.

Thanks for reading!

Sent an email to Vu+ support with the request for adding auto Dolby/DTS downmix functionality, referencing also HDMI.ORG specifications for correct EDID identification and management (which HDMI auto handshake protocol is based on).

Source: http://www.hdmi.org

"The EDID may also say that the TV is an HDMI device and has 2-speakers. The DVD player would compare this information with what it can put out of its HDMI port, then set itself to send 1080i with 2-channel stereo to the HDTV. "

Let's see...:victory:

A decoder ok?

I'm using a DTS to AC3 Decoder and Encoder named Faasoft Audio Converter to convert DTS to AC3, MP3, etc, not a plugin. Works like a charm.

Try it.

I use iDealshare VideoGo which can easily convert DTS to nearly all kinds of popular audio formats like DTS to AC3, DTS to MP3, DTS to WAV, DTS to AAC, FLAC, AIFF, AU, MP2, RA, M4A, Apple LossLess, etc with zero quality loss.
