du02 heat

chulbul

BH Lover
I have 2 duo 2, one bought in 2013 and the other bought 10 days back.
The older one has 2.17 and the newer on 3.0.3 BH
The older one does not heat up remains cool to touch on stand by but the new one is always so hot whether on standy or while using.
Is it something to do with the image or the new box ?
Any input on this issue will help.

Have you checked your system Information? Press the Blue button followed by the Yellow button.
There is no reason for your new VU+ Duo 2 to be running hot, unless you have it stored near a heat source, or closed in, without sufficient air flow.

Well the HDD temp shows 42 c
I am just comparing this to the old DU02 I have and this new one is hot.
Now I put fan on in standby too
I cant see the CPU temp anywhere

Have you got an internal hard drive fitted?
If so try disconnecting it and see if the receiver still gets hot.
My internal hard drive is only 24C.

Yes HDD ,mine is now at 38c I moved the place to a more open space and there was some original plastic tape which I took off.
Do u know how to check the CPU temp ?
Will see how it goes

What image you got ? How big a HDD, MINE IS 2 TB
Is there any plugin to check cpu temp ?

I'm running Blackhole 3.03E, and have a 1.5 TB, 3.5" hard drive, that I took from one of my PC's, when I first got my Duo 2, three years ago.
I would assume that there must be various Linux plugins, to monitor temperature, and other parameters, but I'm not sure if they would be compatible with the Blackhole image.

The easiest thing, to do, is put a small block, under each corner, of your Duo 2, allowing extra airflow, underneath. I use old counters, from a connect 4 game.
If the problem is that bad, the over heating, it could be a hardware problem, that might be causing physical damage, to your VU+ Duo 2.
If it isn't you could try the USB fan, used on old dreamboxes, that sits under your receiver.

Thanks. I dont think its that bad its around 38 average, The Uno is 36 and Solo2 is 36 as seen in my other boxes and the old Duo2 is 28

The fan is off in standby so the temp goes up BUT while using it goes down. I can have the fan on in standby but dont want to

So I went to Lidl bought a flower pot holder for 3,99 and put the box on it. Lol:lol::lol::lol:
