I have the BH 2.0.9 installed since a month now and I noticed a strange issue with the Hard Disk.
Randomly, it wakes up for (what I guess) no reason, it keeps the hard drive alive for a minute or two, then goes to sleep again (I set the delay for sleep mode at 1 minute).
I already tried to reinitialize it, thinking it was something trying to access it (Picons/EPG/...) but nothing is installed on the HD now and the issue still occurs. (I checked crossepg, picons, EMC and see no relations with the hard drive).
Do you have any idea on what I could check to avoid this situation ? It is particularly annoying when watching a movie from my NAS (and a SSD is not an option )
It's hard to say what's occurring, probably some plugin, update check, etc. wants to list the HDD content or verify the available HDD space...
Was it happening also before installing BH 2.0.9?
CrossEPG is set to store his database on my /net/sharedfolder which I am sure he did because I see the folder on the NAS.
This is located on my Synology DS710+, I suppose there is no reason to wake up the HDD then ?
Thanks Eragon, but how to check who (or what) is accessing my HDD content ? I already initialized the disk so as to format the entire content. It is a 320Go 3.5" old HDD but is working quite good for timeshift & records.
I precize this was NOT happening before BH 2.0.9. The only changes I made recently (at least I remember) is to use CrossEPG (since 2.0.6) and to install Airplayer (which BTW is not working properly neither on my duo2, but off topic and not related to BH).
What do you think about disconnecting the Hard Drive and configure the DUO2 to record/timeshift on a network shared folder ? (i have gigabit between DUO2, DM800(but 100mo) and Synology NAS with 3To free space). I know this will not solve my problem, but would it be a good workaround according to you ?
I am also a bit worried to update the 2.0.9 to 2.0.9.1 because of the Dolby problem, so I am running out of options...
If you want to try, I can suggest this:
- make a BH full backup of your current image on a USB pendrive so you'll be able very easily to return to the current state (you'll simply need to flash the BH full backup in the same way as for a new image)
- flash a clean 2.0.9 (no restore of any BH personal backup), configure only the HDD and the channel lists, no CrossEPG or other plugins, and see what happens
- if no unwanted HDD spin occurs during a reasonable time period, try to gradually configure CrossEPG and other plugins/addons, until the HDD spinning eventually reappears.
