ecm nan problem

I have a problem both on my solo and duo at the moment.both running 177 black hole in that the ecm times say nan, i have read this is a problem and there is many fixes on the web about passing a file via ftp to lib however i get stuck on the explination about changing the file, could someone explain better by any chance as this is important to me.
