EPG advice....

Got an issue with EPG on the VU+ Solo, have it setup to save to my external HD, now every so often it 'lose' the EPG and i have reconfigure CrossEPG to work properly again.

Permanent Timeshift works fine when the CrossEPG fails.

My querie is, what is causing the problem?

The image or the CrossEPG software?

Running BH btw.

Would it be a better idea to use a USB flash drive to store the EPG?

your drive is going to sleep mode after 10 min (?) depends of your settings
USB is not
so answer is simple - use usb stick instead of hdd.
Do not set many providers too
