Hi how can i format an external drive and use it for recordings and still put films etc on it from mac os or windows when i need too.Latest image on Octagon SF8008 E2 UHD 4K

don't think of your receiver as a model, Octagon, but as an Enigma 2 based operating system. If you search for how to fit an external, USB, hard drive, in Enigma 2, you should find several videos.
The latest OpenBh image, for the Octagon sf8008 is OpenBh 5.2.005
