Filezilla: Connection now refused

Vu+ Newbie
Hi,
I used to be able to connect to the Vu+with Filezilla. Then last week, after messing around trying to get vlc plugin to work(unsuccessfully), I was no longer able to connect with Filezilla. I am getting connection refused.

I have deleted the VLC server I had set up. No change.
I have tried it with firewall disabled. No luck.
I dont have a router , just the computer connected directly to the box.
I was using root/password to try log in, also root/root.

I was wondering if I had changed the login name and password on the box with my VLC trials. Is there a way I can check this out or reset the username / passowrd?

You should verify via telnet command

netstat -l
if the ftp server is up and running.
A correct ftp server up and running is shown by this entry in the output of the above command:

Depending the image you are using, please verify that FTP is activated and running.
To login you must use your current root account.

Seems that your box has no telnet and ftp daemons active.
Please verify into Blue Panel if they are started correctly and restart them.

The "netstat -l" output is one of your PC and not your box :)

Sorry, I have no idea what you mean. Can you elaborate please?
 
Press the blue button on your remote. That will take you to the blue panel menu. Press Blue again to go to the Extras Menu.

There you'll find (near the bottom) a telnet panel and ftp panel. You can enable/disable telnet and ftp from there.
 
wowe , I never knew that.
pressing it once goes into "please choose an extension". 2nd press gives no result. Is that beause Im using Vix?, I wonder
 
There is no such submenu in vix (1.2, I think).
I will get on to the Vix team about this, or install a new image.
