Vu+ Newbie
hi all,
im a complete newbe, so need a bit of help, just bought a vu+duo2 and have just installed a 2gb hardrive, I will be disconneting my old skybox tomorrow and flashing my box. am I correct in thinking that I need to flash the bootloader first thean flash to the latest blackhole, once this is done what is do I need to do to setup my new box to receive the sateliite channels, the box also says you can record upto 16 channels how does it do this and what do I need to do.

thanks

Your VU+ Duo 2 might already have the latest bootloader installed, so check first.
The Duo 2 has 2 tuner card inputs, each can contain 2 x Satellite tuners, thus you can have 4 satellite tuners, each capable of working independently, so it depends on yopur satellite set up, as to what you can record.
For example you could have a twin output LNB, on a motorized dish, with separate cables to the first two tuner, another fixed dish pointing at 28.2E, for the third tuner, and yet another fixed dish pointing at 0.8W, for the fourth tuner, or multiple other combinations, which need to be set up in the tuner configuration menu.
You can also fit a terrestrial tuner, or a USB terrestrial tuner, giving more options.
Read the guides and if you get stuck please post back, providing it is not against forum rules.

Ok thanks for the info, I basically just want to use the box as a free sat box with the option to record at least 4 channels at once and add some plugins for

You should see it when you power up the VU+ Duo 2, on the front screen.
If just using it as a Freesat receiver, for Astra 2, 28.2E, just fit a quad LNB, 4 outputs, and run 4 cables, from the LNB to your receiver, then fit a second DVB S2 twin tuner card, giving you 4 separate tuners.
These tuner cards are around £59.
You will then have 4 tuners capable of recording multiple channels.

Check this thread:
http://www.vuplus-community.net/board/threads/duo2-cfe-bootloader-update.13413/
From the official VU+ website:
This Bootloader(CFE) is Version 2, supporting WOL.
If you see "Vu+ Duo2 CFE V2" message when booting, there is no need to update.

** Caution! **

This CFE(Duo2_CFE_V2.zip) should be used for Duo2 only.
Otherwise it will crash the box.
