Hassle flashing new images with Component Out

I have had a problem ever since I bought a Vu+ Duo, and now Ultimo. This problem is not specific to BlackHole but to any image I try. I post here because BlackHole is my favourite image and I have no reason to change.

The "problem" is actually more of a major inconvenience rather than anything else as there IS a work-around.

Let me explain: My display is a commercial plasma panel. This has 2 connections that accept Component In only and 2 connections that accept either Component In or RGB. One of the Component only inputs has Audio In to feed the onboard speakers and so this is the input that I use day to day.

The problem is that when an image is first flashed to the receiver, the Component only input of the screen is not capable of displaying the default Vu+ output until the Vu+ is configured for Component output. But I cannot see what is supposed to being displayed to change it! The work around is to unplug the Vu+ from the Component input and plug it into the Component/RGB input. When this input is configured to RGB then an image is displayed on the screen (albeit shrunk and green) so I am able to navigate to AV settings and change Vu+ output to Component and then plug it back into the Component only input.

With me so far?!

My screen is wall mounted and the connections are not readily accesible and this makes flashing a new image a major task for me.

Is there anything simple that can be changed within the BlackHole image so that the Component Out is enabled by default?

Many thanks for reading this far!

Best regards and Happy New Year

Thanks for the reply Tobler

That is interesting because I too am using YPbPr and have always had this "problem" what ever image/version I use.

There must be something "funny" about my Component Input. The only configuration settings I have for this input are YPbRr, Muse, Auto and YCbCr

I must add that once the output is correctly configured then the image is superb.

Thanks once again for your reply.

my english is not so good, but eg just now, my duo is connected just using a component cable to the tvset, just flashed with the new 16.7.b3 an no prob at all during the start or the init setup

you cannot see the initial setup menu using that connection?

Fella - your english is great!

No - I can see NOTHING on screen till after YPbPr is set (unless I change to different input on my display.

Actually - I may just be able to see enough on the larger Ultimo front panel display to make the change but definately not on the Duo. I am not sure if I am going to keep the Ultimo but am definately keeping the Duo so would like to try and find a work around if at all possible.

Thanks for trying to help me.
