HDD replacement in DUO2

In my DUO2 the hard drive has started to make some noise and I'm going to replace it before it breaks down.

What is the best way to do it? I'm thinking to copy everything off it so I can copy it back to the new one.
I'm also thinking to install a new fresh system on to it before putting my backup back.

Is this the recommended approach to do this?
 
You can copy all your recordings onto your PC, using Filezilla, or other FTP program, or backup the entire folder, Media, HDD, Movie.
