Vu+ Newbie
I have VU+duo. I have strange network problem since i uppgraded to 1.7.6. the problem is that it happens oftenly(daily) that im unable to connect the box via DCC. when it happens then im unable to watch the box internet in my pc or iphone. i used to disable DHCP. every time i get this problem i used to restart the box (hard restart) then the problem is solved, but that means i have to restart the box many times daily. is there any new function or network issue with 1.7.6 ? could be the new plugins which cause the problem? does any one experinced same problem?
Any suggesion is appreciated.thanks in advance. best regards.

WLAN or LAN?
Can you try to flash a clean image and retry?

LAN. I have re-flashed new image 2 times(no backup), but the problem exist. i can test it and re-flash it for the third time, but it takes long time as i have to make favorite bouqute every time

Can be a problem on your LAN cable ... Change it or restart your router.

but my box have allways internet connection, because network test and youtube plugin is allways ok, the problem is that some times unable to access the box via DCC and can not watch channels remotly via webinterface in pc or vu+player app in iphone although allways access to webinterface, when i re-start the box the problem is solved, the next day the same problem, i do not want to test other image, because blackhole is my absolute favourite image.

In a certain sense, I am relieved to see this message meaning that I am not alone....

I am also experiencing the exact same problem (VU+ Duo LE, BH 1.7.4).

At a certain point, streaming does not work anylonger (from WebInterface, VLC, Android-app - you name it). Normally in these cases, it is enough to connect to the decoder via telnet and kill streamproxy. This is because sometimes the remote-player (VLC, other video-player) keeps the streaming busy and does not abort the connection. But also for me, lately, this does notwork anylonger since I am unable to connect to the box via telnet. However, the WebInterface (via HTTP) still works and I can reboot the receiver from WebIf and problem is resolved.

My receiver is connected in LAN and my router assigns it a static IP-address. I did recently change my router to a new Netgear-router and when I think about it, the problem started afterwards. However, I don't think it is a networking-problem, at least related to my router. It seems strange the router somehow would block socket-connections such as Telnet and not http-connections.

I will try to reflash the box and see if it resolves the problem although from daif01's posts, I can see he already tried it.

Since I can not test now, can daif01 please test and see if movie-streaming works when streaming of channels are down?

Dear tellek today i got same problem, i mean was unable to stream channels, i tested movie streaming for you, i can conferm that movie streaming is working but channel streaming was not working, i could stream movies via pc through web interface and i gate stream in iphone.i restarted my router but that doesnt solve the problem, re-start the box solve the problem, but sure tomorrow same problem. i dont think the problem in router or network connection otherwise i woudnt be able to stream moviesor enter webinterface on pc outside home.may be i will downgrade to B:H1.7.5

OK, I did some test as well since I now experienced the same problem again but to be honest, I don't have a clue why this is happening....

Box and Image: VU+ Duo - BH 1.7.4
Network config: Static IP using LAN

Problem/What does not work:
1) Streaming (Port 8001) with external video-player (VLC with PC, Android-apps together with android video-players etc) suddenly does not work anymore (streamproxy?).
2) Telnet (Port 23) does not work anymore - probably the Telnet Daemon shuts down. Also FTP (port 21) stops working.
I verified this also by using a port-scanner and ports 23 and 21 do not show up (not listening).

What works:
1) Http and WebInterface (port 80 or in my case where I have assigned WebIf to run on Port 8890). So apparently the webserver fortunately continues to work. In this way I can reboot box using WebIf or directly from Android-apps (which of course uses WebIf).
2) Port 16001 works and is listening (which is also a web/http-service)
3) SSH (Port 22) is working but unfortunately I hadn't set up a password so I was unable to login (maybe next time it happens, I can login using SSH and see if certain daemons are indeed "dead").
4) Streaming of movies/recordings are working. Not sure which port on the box is being used here - perhaps same port assigned to WebIf?)
5) Zapping is working via WebIf so I guess it is not a tuner-problem (when StreamProxy is running, normally tuner is being locked unless you have a twin-tuner)

While problems were present, I rebooted my router but this did not resolve the problems so I don't think my router is to be blamed.

Solution: to reboot the box via WebIf.

Note: Watching TV normally from my sofa seems to work fine. While having problems, I unfortunately forgot to see if directly from the box downloading of plugins and other network-services were working or not. Will check that next time.

After rebooting, I ran the port-scan again and I noted that Telnet and FTP were now up and running again and of course streaming was also working. This probably indicates that the related daemons/services had been shut down and could only be restarted by rebooting the box. I also had a look via FTP in various tmp and log-folders but couldn't find anything useful.

Next time it happens and since I am now able to use SSH, I will try to see if I can restart some of these daemons.

Note: This problem seems to be present also on BH 1.7.6 as reported by daif01.

I don't know how this problem can be reproduced but it is probably streaming-related. Streaming stops and so do Telnet and FTP. To me it does not happen all the times. I have been wondering if it can be related to some plugin? Maybe CrossEPG which (I think) uses Cron. I have put CrossEPG to download each night at 4.00 new data. There might be other services used with Cron. Maybe it is related and interferes somehow. I had a look at Inetd.conf - it looks in order.

To the developers: Any ideas? Can we help you somehow? Let say I manage to get SSH working, can I enable some kind of logs which can be useful for you? Can I run/restart some daemons?

Thanks in advance for your attention to this and hopefully it can be resolved.

Strange issue.
Try with VuPlus Official image and report if the issue is already present.

I have exactly the same problem as two users above.
I'm using vu+ uno with blackhole 1.7.6 conected to lan via PLC, and telnet/ftp only works for a few hours (streaming PC to box via Cifs, connect to Blackhole server are Ok) but there's no way to see my box via FTP on my Pc or connect via telnet.
I tried just to restart the router and the problem it's the same, the only solution is restart the box, then FTP and Telnet are Ok again till 10-15 hours later (i don't know it exactly, but never is more than 1 day)

Finally i found a solution for my problem, yo can try to do the same and probably it will work.
i had DMZ activated on my router, pointing to internal ip uf vu+, all i did was turn off DMZ and also turn of UPNP and now works like a charm.
