How many hours does a 500gig HDD record for?

As title, I'm having a Solo2 soon and wondering about what HDD to put in.
Is there a guide somewhere that shows recording times for different settings?

I presume the quality can be adjusted?
Can the recording be dragged to a NAS or computer hard drive?
What format is the recording in?
 
The quality it saves is as transmitted by provider. Your getting a solo2 so that transcodes to devices if streaming. You can mount network attached storage or folders on PC's etc to your box. The file format is .m3u
