How to watch movies in xbmc?

Hello all.

I have a VU duo, and i have installed BlackHole and XBMC as a plugin.

My problem, is that when i try to play a movie from the video database, i end up in the BlackHole media player. And the movie i wanted to play, is not listed. I am only seeing my movie folder. I have mounted my movie folder in BlackHole-mount manager, with CIFS (it is my NAS) and i can browse to them within media player.

In XBMC i have clicked "add video" and browsed to my nas, and added my movies. But is there some special way these two, ways of locating sources, should be set up?

Another thing, when i play a movie from media player, it just adds the movie to the playlist. In order to play the movie, i have to go into the playlist, and start it from here. Is it possible to just disable the playlist all together?

Thanks alot for your time. Really apprechiate it!!

Daniel

Im having the same issue also, however I cant get anything to play. Just a black screen, does XMBC uses its own video player? or does it rely on MediaPlayer2.

Thought Id post in the same thread, didnt want to duplicate this thread with similar issues.

Thanks

Here is an UPDATE. I still cant play videos over SMB. Here is the log from XBMC. I really hope someone can tell me whats going on: Here i try to play a movie over Samba share, and all i get is a black screen, and i am stuck in the Blackhole media player. Only a restart of the box can get me out:

I FOUND A WORKAROUND:
However I am dissapointed that this forum offers so little support..So many users, but not a single useful reply on this thread..

Anyways, i managed to play my samba mounted movies, by first mounting the samba in Blackholes mount manager. And then I added this mount point from XBMC. The mount was located in:

/media/net/0/files/movies/

So i just browsed to the "movies" folder, and it worked, when i did it like this.

"0" is what i called my mountpoint in BlackHole.

I have Vu+Duo2 with BH 2.1.5,

I get a black screen while in XBMC -

I open - Videos Addons\ Files \ Add Videos \ Add video Source \ Select Browse then I select either the home folder or network folder but both locations display nothing,
yet there’s a lot of videos in there in many formats - (avi, mkv, mp4 etc)

Any ideas???

Hi m8 Duo2NewGuy

1) 1st of all have you read some of the tutorials here in the forum (Also see some videos on Google which guides you how to go about with the xbmc/kodi).
2) You have to download the Repo's/addons and then you will see the addons on which you have to click on Movies, at times the movies play and at times they don't. You got to have patience as it takes some time to get the stream.

Good Luck

Thanks for getting back to me there Supermario.

Afraid I wasnt clear enough with my above query, which has nothing to do with installing repo's,
I'm wondering if XBMC can playback my own movies??
On my Vu+Duo2’s internal hard drive, I have lots of videos in various formats stored within hdd/movie

Also, I have mounted a network folder pointing to a media player’s internal hard drive such as smb://GP/Xtreamer/SDA1/Videos which I can browse to via XBMC

Can XBMC play these??

Some progress has been made!!
In XBMC I go to videos \ files & I can see my network path to smb://GP/Xtreamer/SDA1/Videos & all video formats can be seen.
When I try playing any of the formats, including mkv's the BH Media Player appears with the selected video but it doesn't play the video at all, it displays a black screen with a ">" on the top right of the screen???
