Is an Apple Airport Extreme ok?

Hi, my old Netgear router is losing wifi connection with my VU+ boxes too often so I am going to replace it; today one of the hard disks in my QNAP acted up so I thought I'dm buy an Apple Airport Extreme with 3TB hard disk (I also need it to backup my Mac laptop).

I was wondering: will it work with my VU+ boxes? Will I be able to map a directory in the AirPort in my Linux box and watch movies as I am doing now with the QNAP?
