Just wondering about viruses.

Hi all,

After reading a post on this forum mentioning the aidra virus being able to infect enigma2 boxes I have been doing a bit of reading. It appears this sort of virus targets routers and other linux based, often embedded boxes to use the resources to its own ends.

I had assumed that being linux based the vu+ boxes would be pretty immune to viruses but it appears not so.

What precautions do those in the know take? Change default password, router firewall, anything else?

I never changed my password, but will do now.

I think that's about all you can do mate. As well as keeping as many ports as possible closed and don't use obvious ports when port forwarding

My firmware is provided by ISP (virgin) so not much can do about firmware upgrade, but changed password.
I don't have a problem to me knowledge with viruses to my knowledge, just found it interesting.
All my pcs have Linux on them and have been solid, only exception is Mrs's win 7 netbook, she refuses to change to Linux!
