Kodi uses default e2player (in enigma2)

Hi,
I am using kodi in blackhole and I am using the PureVPN program add-on, when trying to play certain streams it seems to use the (default) e2player within enigma2 which is not covered by the VPN as its not part of kodi.
However, I do notice in some cases it seems to use an internal player and I would like to set it to use that internal player permanently.
Any ideas?
