Mediaplayer and iTunes

I am having some problems with mediaplayer not being able to play back some titles from my iTunes collection.
The problem appears to be related only to titles I have added in the last few months.
I have tried merlin music player and delux mediacentre all with the same results.
Has anyone had a similar problem and if so have you figured a work around ?
