Meoboot and HDD mounting problem

Vu+ Newbie
I have installed BH image 178 on a 32GB USB stick via meoboot and I am trying to mount another 320GB external USB HDD for recordings.

The disk have been mounting without problems when the image was installed in the internal VU solo flash memory.

Now however, even though the HDD is recognized correctly, I go to devices manager and try to mount it.
I had only one option which is: /media/meoboot for my HDD.
I choose that, press Save, restart and the HDD is still NOT mounted... :(
What's the problem this time?
Should I format it again?

I suggest to use Universes and not MeoBoot if you use only BH images :)

Ok, so I've done everything from scratch one again to use universe.
Flushed again to Blackhole 1.7.8 , inserted my USB stick, formatted it to ext3, mounted it to universe.
Then, I did all the rest: set up my satellites and installed 1 skin , picons and 2 addons.
I then jumped to Avalon
HOWEVER, system info shows me that I am at 94% of my flash (total 102528, used 96736 and free 5792), whereas Avalon shows me BH occupied space 94% but Parallel Universed occupied space 1%.
SHould I have had my avalon Universe loaded before downloading anything in order NOT to occupy flash memory but USB stick instead? Or it doensn't matter?

All the things you install (plugins skins ccc..) go into /usr/ subfolders
/usr is usually mounted in flash but when you are in Avalon /usr is mounted in USB an not in flash-
you can see how much space you have in /usr with the command "df -h"

But your procedure is wrong.
The best way is to install nothing in bh universe
1) flash image
2) jump in avalon
3) install skin addons and picons in avalon not in bh.
In this way your flash will be more free because all that you install will go in /usr that is mounted in usb and not in flash and all the things you will install will go in usb and not in flash. Flash will stay fixed.

Ok, I've done the whole process once again today.
This time the 1st thing I did was to mount my 32GB stick to avalon and jump to it.
Then I loaded the skin, picons, plugins etc.

However I am not sure if the addons went to avalon stick... By pressing red button I see that the flash memory has gone to 92% from 66%. Also the occupied space of the USB stick is just 1% (29GB empty out of 29,2)
The biggest problem hoever is that I still cannot mount anything else as additional disk. I have another 32GB stick and an external 320GB disk. Both give me the command of mounting the disk as media/hdd but when I restart but the disk in NOT mounted... :(
Please help! I've spent my whole afternoon doing the whole process 3times and I am still to zero...

Here is what I get from df -h :
I guess avalon is working okay since /etc and /usr are only there.
Why can't I mount another disk though?

I don't know the problem of your disk.
Have you mapped it in device manager inside avalon ?
Have you formatted your hdd in linux ext3 ?

yes, I try to mount it in device manager but I cannot. The disk is seen , I mount it , restart but it is still unmounted.
Yes it is formated in ext3. :(

The same 320gb HDD works fine If I don't use Universe or meoboot on my 32GB USB flash disk

Have you tried to make a mount for the HDD first and then the universe and USB stick ?
All directly after image installation.
Try to mount first HDD
then USB stick

No I haven't Matrix. I am going to do it though, doing the whole process a 4th time.
What I just did was to format another USB stick inside the Universe, mount it, restart and bang! NOT mounted again...
I believe it's a bug!...

If I tried your way around, let's assume in the near future I want to install another HDD. Would I have to do the whole process again for every new HDD I try to install ?

It worked! :yahoo: I didn't even had to reset everything up again, since by jumping to AVALON all my previous settings were automatically reloaded.
Thanks! :victory:
Is is a bug though you have to take into account.
I hope I don't have the same problem if I try to disconnect my HDD in the future.

@Shiro:
Maybe you have to add this trick to your useful guide before you find a way to overcome the problem.
Thanks all!
