v1 should be already supported by carl9170 driver
v2 not supported. No driver avaiable for Broadcom chipset used
v3 can be supported. Driver exists but never tested before.

Also could you suggest an high perfomance adapter to be used?

Depends on your WNA3100 revision according to my previous post.
