Network recording issue

Hi all,

I'm having issues recording from my Vu+ boxes over my LAN,

I have a Duo downstairs and an Ultimo upstairs, both hard wired into a GigE network,

My NAS upstairs has a shared drive that both machines record to,

My problem is when recording from either box to the NAS, playback of the program jerks, breaks up, freezes etc...

It seems the fault is with the recording itself as rewinding and replaying results in the same issues at the same points...

I'm pretty confident my LAN and NAS are fine as I can stream full HD ISO's over my network from the same NAS without issue!

Does anyone else do this? Any tips?
 
I have 4 box's connected to my D-LINK nas and I can record and playback on all box's with no issues.
I also connect with CIFS.
This does not help you though so lets try some things.
Has it always been like this ?
Did you connect with CIFS ?
Maybe you could wait and test the new mount manager that will be in 1.7.1 and see if that helps.

I've only just started doing this since I got the second box!

I connect with CIFS, yes!

I'll try 1.7.1 when it comes out...not sure that would make any difference but its worth a try!

yes...both boxes would rarely be reading / writing to the NAS at the same time though...would this matter?

Network tests are showing a consistent 9.5-10.5 MB/s read/write speed so it doesn't look like a network issue....

Strange then, I use the same user and pass on all box's and have had 3 recordings working at one time working just fine.

yea...I'll go back to separate hard disks for the minute...A wife friendly option to view recorded tv from one box or the other other would be handy (rather than having to go into bookmarks and choose the desired path ;))
 
In fact..an option to view all recordings when you click into 'recorded files' would be nice.....settings would allow you to enter locations for all local and network drive recordings which would be viewable in the one list - can you make it happen Artorius? :p:cool:
