networking - iptables (impossible)

Currently vuplus enigma box cannot is not usable for any networking between interfaces. Therefore GLAN cannot be used for internet without having an external GLAN router installed with internet connection. Using WLAN dongle or 3G/LTE MODEM or any other internet-gateway hw cannot be used for subsequent cable internet connection via box without external router (another expensive and power consuming box). It all have one trouble reason: missing iptables.

Obvious question is when the BH will finally support usable networking, with possibity of routing packets between interfaces, in particular iptables??

In other words, from more technical view: It is totally impossible to make even a simple router using STATELESS ROUTING (without iptables / netfilter), because your IPROUTE2 package is CRIPPLED regarding NAT features. And no other tools capable of doing the same job (such as netcat, socat) is available in opkg. Even simple bridging is nearly impossible with majority of hw because of driver issues (external wlan modules etc.).

Neverthless, every modern system in linux world is using IPTABLES STATEFULL stack allowing routing with firewal capabilities, simple and elegant kernel solution to various networking tasks.

You DEVELOPERS should really think up and consider ADDING basic kernel modules to support IPTABLES. Without it the whole enigma box is totally crippled (although it is possible to live with it using it as dumb STB). In other words, currently used network stack in vuplus's enigma is totally obsolete crap, incomplete and more than 5 years after now...
