New VU+DUO2

Vu+ Newbie
Ok guys, I've just purchased my first VU box. I would like to know the best place to start. I've already had previous satellite boxes but this is my first Enigma box. I have had hybrid boxes ie spark/enigma. What is also puzzling me is that there seems to be posts dating back a few years about the VU+DUO2 and I thought this was the very latest model?

The very latest model is the VU+ Solo 4K, for UHD, (Ultra High Definition), but the VU+ Duo 2 is an excellent receiver, and what I currently have.
Your first job is to load an image, I like Black Hole, but others prefer Open Vix, or one of a number of images.
The latest Black Hole is here:

You might also want to test, and use, some of the tools, like the VUCC, VU+ Control Centre:

Have you read any of the guides?

Thanks for that. I did check out the 4k vu receiver but decided to go for the duo. I knew the 4k did exist but thought the duo2 was the latest incarnation of that type of box, not a box that had been out for years. Just looking at the specs compaired to other boxes it was a way ahead so that was another reason why I thought it was the latest incarnation. Not only that but it seemed that sellers were waiting on new shipments of this receiver which was another reason. Anyway I hope I get the best out of it. I have been on many forums looking at basic setup guides and as I'm used to enigma2 etc it should be pretty straightforward? I just want to get the best image that won't involve too much customization and allow me to leave it alone once first setup is complete. I've already installed a lowly 1tb hdd to get me up and going. I will have a read of the links you posted, thanks again

Ok, don't want to veer too much off topic but I've got a quick question. When I purchased my box it stated it had a twin tuner and all the photo's of the box showed two slots occupied. Looking at the contents as well it stated that it came with a loop through cable. Anyway, I unpacked the unit and checked the box for a loop through cable, none. Looked at the rear of the box and it only had one slot occupied which said tuner A underneath it and the slot contained what looked like a twin tuner module without loop through capability only showed lnb 1 and lnb 2 input? The manual was also in dual nationality, uk and german. Did I get a german unit which comes with different setup?

The VU+ Duo 2 has several options, for the tuners, as they are plug & play, much like a graphics card, on a PC.
If you open it up you should see two slots, each capable of housing a twin DVB-S2 tuner, so 4 x Satellite tuners, or a cable/terrestrial tuner, generally they come with 1 x Twin satellite tuner.
If you go into the menu, Setup, Service Searching, Tuner Configuration, it should display Tuner A, and Tuner B.
The set up, of the tuners, depends on your satellite system, and what cables you have attached, to each tuner.

For information my VU+DUO2 is equipped with two cards, one to use with cable operator OR TNT, you have to choose and the second card has two sat tuners. My choice when I bought the material. Nice to know, one dish has two heads and the other one is equipped with a motor. Works fine. Have a lot a pleasure. (I use OPENPLI and I've tried the new Black Hole 0.4 but I have problems with the cards, si I had to come back to openpli)
Have pleasure with this marvellous Duo2 !! I live in Belgium.
