Hello, i am Carlos from Spain and am a complete newbie with brand new VU+ Solo2 with internal 1TB hdd. I have it connected to a fix antenna pointing Astra 19, with twin LNB and 2 cables going to the receiver. Basic need is to be able to watch and record FTA German channels and also connect it via LAN to watch online stuff. Would really apreciate some basic guidance on where to start, i.e. how to configure receiver, how to install new image, blackhole or others? most useful plugins... I've read a lot about the potencial of this receiver, but feel now a bit frustrated about not knowing where to start. I am a medium-advanced pc user with no Linux knowledge, but am a quick learner. Thanks in advance for your help to getting me started with this machine ;-)

Well, your question is... a little bit wide!
As far as I'm concerned, I can give you some advices but the first and most important one is to be patient: you'll learn a lot day by day simply being curious of what you can read from other users, because there is always something to learn even when it is not your actual problem.
Second advice: I consider BlackHole most suitable as a starting point for a new user. Let's say it is the most didactic, educational although OpenBlackHole is the future but it is still a work in progress (already very, very good, though).
3) whatever you do, if you don't want to risk to start from scratch in case some experiment will cause crashes, immediately begin having the good habit of making full backups of your image, and
3b) copy your backups, for instance, in your computer's HDD in folders named by data (afterwards you'll discover a backup plugin called AutomaticFullBackup which does this job automatically, but don't run too fast for now).
4) About plugins, this is a very subjective field, but I can't help having, for instance, the moviecut plugin for easily (although approximately) cut your recordings.
Finally, if you are asking for help in configuring tuners or for any other specific issue, please be more specific. As I said, your question was too vast.
