Vu+ Newbie
Hi all

I am new to the VU as well to the Black Hole Software.

I have made an automatic scan on the VU+ Duo2 and have noticed that a number of channels are not being shown on the system. I have currently some 337 services found. I thought that would have been more.
I have checked the satellites.XML and noticed there is a difference between the list and for example the ones shown on Lyngsat. Some transponders in Lyngsat are not shown in the XML and vice versa.
I have Black Hole 2.1.4 installed.
Would be grateful if someone could point me into the right direction how to get the other TV channels and also maybe how to add some transponders.

Thx
Ian

If you're new to vu I'd suggest to use pre made channel list which you can download from the feed. Check everything is working then play with the scan.

There is a channel list on the Black Hole system but it seems a bit strange. Anyhow where can I download the list? Do you have a link?

If you're only scanning in 28.2E then it might be better to manually scan in the missing transponders, try lyngsat, for details:
Code:
http://www.lyngsat.com/Eutelsat-28A-and-Astra-2A-2E-2F.html

Thx for that. I have a copy of the list, but this is where I already get stuck. Example 11307V. If I understand this correct that Freq should be Free to Air channels. But my VU+ doesn't have them stored although the band is being checked when searching. It has the Freq in the satellite.xml file. Or are those channels not free? It says in Lyngsat FTA

Thx Ian

Some are FTA, Free to Air, try going into the menu, system searching, Manual Scan and selecting DVB-S, then enter 11307 frequency, 27500 Symbol Rate, select vertical polarity, and the Clear before scan option, then do a manual scan and see how many channels it picks up.

Thx for the info Mick
But it still didn't work. At least I know now how to change the info to do a manual scan. Is there a way to update the xml file myself? Is there a xml which can be downloaded from Lyngsat? to replace the one in the VU+? It seems this is not up to date as I checked the xml against the Lyngsat online version.

Thx
Ian

I am close to giving up. I have now checked the satellite with my satlink meter and have for 28.2E 795 channels. but on the VU+ I can only get 337 channels. Why?

Is there anyone who has an answer for this?

Thx
Ian

You can make your own channel list with DreamSet.
Download DreamSet to your PC ( if you don't have it)
Configure to connect with your box.
After configuration, click on "New"
In pop-up window select "Internet Settings....."
In next pop-up window it says
1. "Download Settings From: KingOfSat" = leave it as it is.
2. At Sats widow = select the sats you like. For 28.2 E it gave me 810 tv channels and 107 radio.
3. At Options window = set the preferences for TV and Radio Services.
4. Select "Skip C Band" at the bottom of the window.
Click "Download"
Click "Exit"
Now you'll have all channels from the selected Sats. Here you can make all the changes you like ( rearrange, move, delete, renaming the favorites and much more ) or just leave it as it is.
When you are done select "Save As"
In the next pop-up window
at " Save as" = select " Enigma 2 ver 4 (lamedb) (lamedb)
at filename = write "lamedb" ( without "")
Save to one folder.
Now click on " Transfer " and slect "Write"
The settings will now be transferred to the box, and it will reboot.

P.S.
Before transferring the new settings make a backup of the old ones first. Click on "Transfer" and select "Read"
Info over configuration of the DreamSet and the download is here on this forum somewhere.

Success.

What do you get if you download catseye settings from our server ?

When I set up my Duo2 I too had difficulties making a full search work properly. I have overcome this and will try to explain how. Please bear in mind that I am not an expert, I don't upgrade satellite kit very often and have always found that the learning curve is different every time. I am also not a great fan of using datasets created by others, primarily because this means some loss of control.

I have described my Duo2 difficulties and their solution in another forum here. I'll assume that you have one fixed dish pointed at Astra 2 (28.2 E), one LNB and one DVB tuner (single or twin). The first thing to do is to clear all your earlier attempts and reboot the tuner. Having done this, here are my steps.

Menu > Service Searching

> Tuner Config
Choose Tuner
Tuner A DiSEqC A/B
Port A - Astra 2
Port B - 'unconnected'

> Manual Scan
Tuner - Tuner A
Type Scan - single satellite
Satellite - Astra 2
Network scan - yes
Clear before scan - yes
Free scan only - your choice
OK

When scan completed 'OK' and then Exit back to main screen.

If some of these steps are unnecessary, someone here will, I trust, correct my scheme.

This is how I have mine setup with a fixed dish at 28.2 on tuner A and then Tuner B with 19e, 13e and 23.5eScreenshot.jpg
