PIP with two encoded channels

Vu+ Newbie
Hello experts,

I am new to the Linux STB and it is way more complex than I expected.
When I purchased my Vu+ Duo2 I was already impressed by the announcement that I can record up to 16 channels simultaneously. When I installed the box for the first time, I realized, things are not going to be really out-of-the-box.

So my setup is that I have a DVB-C provider, which is plugged to Tuner A and a loop-through, which is going to Tuner B. Both tuners are visible in the setup of the BH image (2.1.7) so no issue here.

I have only 1 program that is not encoded and all other programs provided are scrambled. Therefore I also have a CAM module plugged in Slot 1, which is working fine for viewing purposes.

Now when I start recording a program, I cannot view any other program except for the one that is currently recording and the program that is not scrambled. All other scrambled programs appear as black screen. I assumed that I would not need more than one CAM module in order to watch and record multiple programs. At least that was definetely the case with my old TechniSat STB model, which was capable of recording 1 program and watching another without any problems using the exact same CAM module that is now plugged in the Vu+ STB.

Additionally there is another interesting problem, which is probably related and that is - I am not capable to have the PIP feature running for two scrambled programs. If I try to do that - one of the programs is always black screen, except for the case when I have a PIP with the unscrambled channel - then both work.

Any help is appreciated.

Have you checked CI CAM settings?
Your "issue" usually is related to CI CAM modules limitation that not permit to use it for two or more scrambled channels operations.

Hi,

I haven't checked that, if you let me know how to check it I will, but I doubt that this is the problem since as I mentioned before I was using the same CI CAM module with my old TechniSat and I was able to view and record different programs.

Menu - Setup - Common Interface

Ok what I see there is :

Reset
Init
Conax Conditional Access
Multiple Service Support - this is on Auto, but I can set it to yes
High bitrate Support - Yes

What now?

Oh believe me..I have read the rules very carefully, but obviously the forum thinks that some words are offensive....what I wanted to write is
* - * - * - * - * - * - *, which is a module to help decoding encrypted programs. So is there something like that for Black Hole?

Would you mind to specify what you want?

What kind of module, are you referring to?
