Problem with recording and replaying movies - VU+ solo

mirza_bole

Vu+ Newbie
I have tried many many things ... tried with USB stick, with USB HDD and with network folder on ma PC and I still can not play HD movies without hiccups.

USB HDD I could not change attributes into 755 so I never succeeded recording at all. Mounted it as media\hdd and as sdb1 ... tried NTFS format then I tried to formated it with my Vu+ solo but with no success (Vu crushes every time I start format).
My USB stick recorded but with a lot of freezing.
Net.folder records but with a lot of hiccups. What is strange is that when I record on my net.folder 2h movie in HD is under 1GB (I asume it is not even recording it properly). My net.folder is mounted using network and mountpoints as CIFS (I read on the forum it is better)

can anyone tell me where am I making mistake pls? or should I just give up on recordings, which would be disappointing for me.

pls pls help

I give You last time explanation what You need to do.

1. Best option is USB HDD with external power suply ( because sometimes power via usb is not enough )
2. Forget NTFS ! If You can not format hdd on Vu+solo, make format on PC via disk director to EXT 3.
3. After it connect to solo and try to format and mount. Maybe would need just mount.

Give feedback here.

1. mistake is to think that you can record on a simple USB stick HD movies.
2.Recording on PC Works well over CIFS provided that your network is good (wired)
3.For recording on a USB HDD use EXT Linux formated disk and not NTFS
and USB HDD with external power suply .
4.If you can not format your HDD with VU box (I did not check)
Format on a Windows machine or even better on Linux machine.
For windows I think you can use this tool to format

I did everything according to the forum instructions, several times ... USD HDD is with external power ... will format it on my PC and will buy new network cable to eliminate hardware

I used the tool you gave me (EaseUS Partition Master 9.1.1 Home Edition) and formatted USB HDD in EXT3 and recorded two movies with no problems ... they play so smooth ... will try to fix network folder as well, but now I am suspicious that it might not work because I do not have EXT partition on my PC

THX A LOT GUYS ... and so sorry for bothering you
