Recording issues with Vu+ Duo

Hi all. I got my first box today and all seems well except that I can't record. I have an internal HDD, but when I attempt to record I get the message: "Couldn't record due to invalid service".

I searched the forum and it said I have to create a directory "movie" but I don't know how to do that.

If you haven't already formatted your HDD it has to be formatted before mounting it. Menu>setup>system>hard drive>initialisation press OK on your HDD then press red when it displays initialise
Then mount as described above mount it as media/HDD

Thanks for your advice, that's more or less what I found elsewhere. However, after I initialise the HDD, when I go to the Devices Manager to mount the HDD there are no devices listed.

OK. I can see the HDD in the devices manager. Which option should I use? There are the following possibilities: "Not mapped", "/media/cf", "/media/hdd", "/media/usb", "media/card", "/media/mmc1", "media/music", "/media/photo", "/media/video", "/media/personal", "/media/downloads", "/universe".

I tried both "/media/hdd" and "Not mapped", neither seemed to work and returned the same error message I reported at the top of the thread.

usually media/hdd.

Have you set Recording Path... Menu - Setup - System ,scroll down to Recording path and set to Media/hdd

I found something that looks like it may be the solution in another forum. But I don't understand how to execute it. How do I do this:

edit /etc/fstab and add this line at the bottom then reboot
/dev/sda1 /media/hdd auto defaults 0 0

I know there are two pages, but I can't find it. After "System" the choices are: "A/V Settings", "Autoresolution", "Language", "Customise", "Auto language election settings", "Timezone", "Hard Drive", Network", "Display Setup", "Keyboard", "Video Fine-Tuning", "Skin", "Autoshutdown settings", "Fan control", "NetDrive Setup".

Used to do that on my duo. Just used to restart enigma and have a look to see if its in mount points again... Or switch it off on toggle switch and try again from start....once mounted properly the recording path should be then visible menu>setup>system>recording paths and should then already be setup to default location /HDD/movie if you've mounted it correctly ;)

"Switch it off on toggle switch"? You mean turn it off and on again? I can't believe I hadn't thought of that! - I tried it AND IT WORKED! (Facepalm of the century.) Sorry for being such a muppet everyone, looks like sometimes the simplest solutions are the most effective after all.

Seriously, thank you very much.

Yes the switch on the back :). Glad it worked
