"SID not found in PAT"

Bradwall

Vu+ Newbie
My Vu+Duo has developed, over the last six months or so, an intermittent fault where a program I am watching goes off and the "SID not found in PAT" is displayed on the screen. Prog up ,prog down on the remote brings the program back. This also happens during recording making the recording annoyingly incomplete. I have got the latest BH image installed. Has anyone any idea what causes this and how can I cure it?

"SID not found in PAT"
May be caused by few things:-
1-Dish alignment!
2-LNB/feed horn out of position!
3-Channel providers has changed frequencies or make it into DATA channel!
4-Correction factor is not right,,,changed by providers to boost signals!
5- Temporary signal lost!

I would recommend to make a new transporter search , after U fix the cause!

And @ Reception Settings, change:-
Set Voltage and 22KHz
& Send DiSEqC only on satellite change

Both to>>>>>>>>>>>>YES.

Thanks a911 for your reply, I have temporarily disconnected the Vu and replaced it with my old Dreambox 7000s, the reception with the DB is excellent using the same Dish Setup and Cabling . I have used a number of different Settings files including Catseye Settings and also rescanned individual sats. The "fault" does not happen on any particular channels it can happen on any of them after varying periods of time.
Where do I find "@Reception Settings" please ?

Have you verified the coax cable from dish?

Yes, I have checked all the F connectors on the two coax cables and purchased and fitted a new twin LNB. As above I have tried a number of Settings lists and also done automatic re-scans on sats. There was no sign of the problem when I replaced my Duo with my old Dreambox 7000s for a trial period but of course with the DBox there was no HD channels reception. When watching or recording any channel in standard definition or high definition the channel eventually goes off ( could take up to 2 or 3 hours) and "SID not found in PAT" is displayed on the screen and "DVB Program" is displayed on the front of the receiver. The receiver stays in this state even when left on overnight and does not revert back to showing the selected channel. It's got me beat!

Respect Bh work if you want stay here.
i have the same problem:
"SID not found in PAT"
& i'm 100% sure this is BH BUG!

If you used the plugin ISettingE2, you would not have had these problem.

@Diamondear, I think U"r the co-aurthor of this plug in>iSettingE2 ver 2.8.1!
If yes, Have U tested it with BH images and does it work and will U allow me to upload here!
Thanx!

Sat frequencies had been changing , in the last few weeks, this will cause SID-NOT-Found massages to show!
And others, like wrong settings or dish alignments/LNB installations, may causes that also,,,:chair: !

Nothing to do with BH images,,at all...:)!

But how would this explain that a channel can be viewed for a period of time ( perhaps 2 hours) without problem, then up pops the Sid not found message and the picture has gone, channel up channel down with the remote and the channel is viewed again. Someone suggested that this could be a faulty tuner but I am open to all suggestions. If it is a faulty tuner how would I prove it and rectify the fault.

Go for the 2nd tuner after U stop the 1st one!
If Not working and U still have the SID messages, then there is a fault in your LNB or its connections at the dish!

Good news guys, :)
I have now altered the EPG settings and got the B/H EPG working properly, previously I only got Now and Next guides. The EPG now has a weeks programs and is is behaving as I think it should. I am not sure how I have achieved this but since it happened the dreaded "Sid not found in Pat " has not been displayed and the image works as I think it should. Perhaps someone could kindly write a concise tutorial on setting up the EPG properly to help newbies such as myself. My physical set up of the Vu +,Cabling, LNB and dish has not been changed but the "SNFIP" fault has now disappeared ( and I hope it will not return.

Hi mate, this interests me as I have the same issue with regard to the EPG i.e only getting now & next guides, what settings have you got on the EPG? are you using cross EPG updates or not? using cool EPG? and a million other questions dude!! My head is aching from banging my head against a brick wall with this and if you, or any other kind soul could help, I would be eternally grateful.

:) Panic over chaps, spent a lot of time trying different settings and eventually found myself at a solution to my problem!!:)
