solo 2 and BH 2.0.3 "problem of RAM usage ?"

Hi,

I found something and I don't know if I'm the only one.

I have solo 2 with blackhole 2.0.3 and after some time, the RAM is used to 94-96% with the majority cached.

This poses no major problem, I can use my stb normally but if unfortunately I use some functions that takes a bit of RAM, I experienced big slowdowns.

for example, if I check the system info menu, I have big slowdowns when i want to exit it.

Same thing for the network browser.

Otherwise everything else works normally.

To free up RAM I use this command: echo "1"> /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches

Any idea what's happening?

thanks.

I don't know as i never had this problem.
Try to remove app that you don't use from speed up menu.
Maybe you can free some memory, but i don't know if you will have more free ram with this.
Do you use swap?

speed up menu, it's already done !

it's not a big problem because everything works fine, i wanted to know if someone has experienced that.

I make a script with the command above with cron task every 2 hours and the RAM doesn't exceed 30%

and no, i don't use swap !

thanks.

I only get excessive ram usage (94-96%) when my hdd is in use either reading or writing but never noticed any speed drop in any application as such. What I normally do is to reboot my Solo2 after watching say a movie or something and then ram usage drops to the usual 35-45%

@Pedro C

Thank you for that answer, I finally identified the source of this consumption.

Indeed, i often watch movies from a CIFS mount on my laptop or USB key.

i let the script in place, it does disturb anything.

Thanks.
