Yes, different boxes use different boot loader.
If you install the wrong file the box will stop to work.

Regarding the image, you can install the last BH (1.7.8).

cheers ive cracked it, great little back up box this solo,i bought a dreambox 800 hd first but what a load of c...p i have duo so know the diff between good and bad and that d.box was defo bad. its getting wrapped up as i speak straight back on one way ticket, feel sorry for dreambox in a way there have been ruined bu c...p clones
