Solo SE V2 flash corruption

I have a new Solo Se V2 and quickly learned that it would only flash with a decent brand and a smallish memory i.e. 8GB. I am also using the memory sticks to store the EPG and each one is being corrupted by the box. I use without and I get glitches and freezes... is this a common thing?
