Streaming by the Internet from a static public IP address

For the first time my Internet connection has got a static (public) IP address.
I'd like to take advantage of this because I suppose it should be easier to configure VU+ and OBH for the remote streaming when not at home. Is it actually so (easier, I mean).
Any advice to start with the configuration?
