Totally raw Vu + user

Vu+ Newbie
Hi all, Ive recently bought a new vu+duo fitted with 1 TB HDD, and pre-loaded with VIX firmware im struggling to get it going, but im sure i will find the help needed in here & other good forums around. I have never had a linux box before, got loads of questions that sound simple to you guys but before i post i will search for similar questions that may have been posted on boards. thanks in advance

I hear of connecting laptop to vu+duo, as a total newbie im guessing you have ethernet cable from pc to router, another ethernet cable from router into vu box ? I have a sagem router supplied by sky which has 4 ethernet ports, do you have to use particular ports and how do you configure them ? im not meaning port forwarding as this sounds way too complicated. I am going to spend some time learning to work this box, i have managed to `flash` but most times get message saying "tuner failed " or check configuration, i know im missing the obvious but will post even more random requests for help & advice here and in other forums, all help greatly appreciated, dont want to put this machine back in its box again after several attempts to get it working, i never realised they were so complicated ! I know they are very good receivers wish i had the patience and know how to get the best from it :-{

This is a thread for introductions and not for support request.

To receive a good support, I advise you to open a thread into Vu+ General section and specify the kind of satellite system you have, if you have one cable or two cable connected to your dish.

However, you can connect your Duo to any port of your router.
